Generally, QuickBooks Message Error Code 2501 appears on Windows by not saving the modification on the deposit account.


  1. Search for unpaid paychecks In the QuickBooks.

  2. You have to pay them first if there are any of them

  3. After that, you must select all the paid paychecks in your QuickBooks account.

  4. Ensure to clear the Direct Deposit safety box after choosing all the paychecks 

  5. Click the Save option and exit the window.


Method 2: Run a Manual Update for QuickBooks Desktop


Most of the time, QuickBooks can’t update by using automatic update. You can do it manually instead.


  1. Press on Windows button and launch the Start option.

  2. Go to the search bar, and write QuickBooks Desktop.

  3. Right-click on the tab and choose the Run as Administrator option.

  4. Click on the File option and choose Update QuickBooks. When you go to the No Company Open window from the drop-down option.

  5. Now, you need to press on the Options tab and select the Mark All option.

  6. Click the Save option and press the Update Now option.

  7. After that, choose the Reset Update box and select Get Updates.

  8. Reopen the QuickBooks Desktop and install the downloaded updates.

  9. You can try to work on your direct deposits again.
